Product Description

Gravity‑Fed Wedge Wire Fine Screen | Wastewater Pre‑Treatment Static Screening Unit

Brief Description

This gravity‑fed wedge wire fine screen is a non‑power static screening device for wastewater pre‑treatment. It captures suspended solids, floating debris and settleable contaminants purely by hydraulic gravity. Characterized by no‑moving‑part design, zero driving power and compact layout, it is widely selected for municipal and industrial projects where gravity inflow drop and medium‑or‑lower flow volume are available.

Product Overview

Within the whole sewage treatment workflow, this wedge‑wire fine screen is positioned after coarse and intermediate bar screens and before regulating tanks or hydrolytic‑acidification reactors. It fulfils fine‑grade solid interception duties, lowers incoming suspended‑solid loading and effectively prevents clogging of subsequent treatment structures and water‑distribution facilities.

Remarks

Sieve slot width b

0.15 / 0.25 / 0.3 / 0.5 / 0.75 / 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 / 2.5 mm

Commonly adopted: 0.5–1.0 mm; for ultra-fine interception in sewage systems, slot width shall not exceed 1.0 mm (GB 50014-2021)

Effective sieve width B

500 / 600 / 900 / 1200 / 1500 / 2000 / 2500 mm

Selected according to treatment capacity; customizable

Sieve surface type & angle

Inclined flat-plate type: 45° – 60°; curved-surface type: wrap-around angle 45° – 120°

Curved-surface radius: 700–1500 mm

Single-unit treatment capacity

5–300 m³/h (up to 550 m³/h for large-size models)

Strongly correlated with slot width, water quality and sieve width; refer to Section 7

Overflow load per unit width q

Approx. 40–150 m³/(m·h)

Adjusted for water quality and slot width; see Table 6-1

Inlet mode

Gravity free-flow, weir overflow water distribution

Weir head: generally 50–100 mm

Overall unit height

Approx. 1.6–2.0 m

Inlet elevation: approx. 1.5–1.9 m; reserve margin for elevation design

Connection pipe size

Inlet: DN100–DN300; Outlet: DN150–DN350

Scales with unit size

Unit empty weight

Approx. 220–950 kg

Operating weight plus water weight: approx. 0.7–1.0 t

Working Principle

1.Uniform Water Spread
Incoming wastewater flows into upper distribution box and flows over the overflow weir. A uniform thin water film spreads across the complete effective width of wedge‑wire screen, making full use of screening surface area.

2.Solid‑Liquid Separation
Wastewater flows in tangential direction against the precision‑welded V‑shaped wedge‑wire screen. Driven by gravity and hydraulic shear force, water plus fine particles pass through screen gaps, while larger solid substances remain on top of screen surface.

3.Self‑Discharging of Captured Solids
Accumulated solids are pushed by follow‑up wastewater flow plus gravity force, sliding down along inclined or curved screen face into bottom slag‑collecting hopper to realize continuous automatic discharge.

Key Design & Performance Features

1.Energy‑saving Design

The core screening section consumes no drive power; only optional auxiliary flushing or slag‑removal attachments draw little electric power.

2.Anti‑clog Self‑cleaning Performance

Wedge‑wire slots cooperate with continuous water‑film flushing; bonded dirt can be cleared via low‑pressure water spray.

3.Convenient Field Maintenance

Absence of rotating wearable components. Damaged screen modules can be replaced individually without disassembling the complete unit; only routine flushing and visual inspections are required.

4.Operating Notes

A certain gravity inflow head is mandatory. Optimized for wastewater containing coarse suspended particles, not suitable for colloidal micro‑fine wastewater or direct sludge dewatering.

Applications

Municipal sewage pretreatment, food processing, brewery and distillery wastewater, slaughterhouse effluent, sugar plant, textile & leather manufacturing wastewater, livestock breeding effluent and papermaking pre‑treatment.
