Hydraulic Reciprocating Tank Bottom Sludge Scraper with Continuous Sludge Collection & Thickening for Rectangular Sedimentation Tanks
Brief Description
WG Hydraulic Reciprocating Tank Bottom Sludge Scraper is applicable for rectangular sedimentation tanks requiring sludge deposition, collection and thickening. Its sludge collection capacity can reach up to 4–5 times that of conventional sludge scrapers. It solves installation difficulties existing in traditional equipment such as steel cable traction scrapers, travelling bridge scrapers and chain-type scrapers, integrating continuous sludge transportation and thickening into one unit.
Product Overview
The equipment mainly consists of hydraulic cylinder assembly, triangular frame, horizontal pull rods, central shaft, scraper plate groups, slide rails, hydraulic station and electric control cabinet. It can be supplied in wall-mounted type or floor-mounted type, with maximum applicable tank length of 100m, maximum tank width of 12m and maximum treatment area up to 1200 m². Wetted parts adopt SUS304 or SUS316 stainless steel for excellent corrosion resistance. Multiple installation forms including push type & pull type are optional; the hydraulic cylinder can even be arranged above the water surface flexibly to adapt to tanks with supporting columns inside.

Working Principle
The hydraulic station supplies power to the hydraulic cylinder. A set of triangular frames converts vertical movement of the cylinder into horizontal reciprocating movement, driving groups of wedge-shaped scraper plates to travel back and forth on the tank bottom. The forward travelling speed of scraper plates is about half of the return speed. During forward stroke, the concave surface of wedge plates pushes sludge toward the sludge hopper. On the return stroke, the small inclined angle prevents sludge from being dragged backward. The pressure formed by rapid retraction maintains sludge moving forward continuously. Sludge keeps advancing steadily until falling into the sludge hopper. The reciprocating motion of scrapers also realizes sludge thickening with solid content up to 3% in normal working conditions. Under equal sludge discharge volume, higher sludge concentration leads to lower water consumption and energy loss.

Key Design & Performance Features
1. Fewer moving components; only scraper assemblies, push rods and triangular frames operate during running, convenient maintenance and long service life.
2. All submerged components adopt stainless steel. Scraper slides on HDPE guide rails with water self-lubrication, low friction, small driving force, sensitive operation and long service life.
3. Continuous sludge transportation: sludge keeps moving forward without interruption during both forward and return strokes, forming stable inertial flow.
4. Undisturbed sedimentation process: the scraper runs slowly at the bottom sludge layer without disturbing upper clarified water.
5. High operation reliability: low movement speed, natural water lubrication and stable running performance.
6. Strong adaptability: suitable for new-built or existing rectangular tanks, adaptable to flat tank bottoms, single-layer & double-layer structures. It can be installed in tanks with internal columns, and the hydraulic cylinder can be arranged above water surface to reduce the number of moving units.
7. Easy installation: compact structure and fewer parts; no heavy hoisting equipment or complicated auxiliary devices required.
Suitable for rectangular sedimentation tanks in municipal waterworks, municipal wastewater treatment plants, industrial water purification stations, industrial wastewater treatment projects. Widely used for collection and thickening of settled sludge in all kinds of rectangular pool structures.
