Product Overview
Our Externally Fed Drum Screen is a robust, high-efficiency mechanical filtration solution engineered to capture fine suspended solids, fibrous materials and miscellaneous debris. Adopting an outside-in flow pattern, water permeates the screen media from exterior to interior. This structural design delivers superior performance under high solid loading conditions and reliably produces pre-screened clarified water, making it well-suited for surface water intake facilities, industrial process water circulation and advanced wastewater polishing treatment sections.
Working Principle
*Feed Introduction: Raw wastewater or process fluid is uniformly distributed onto the exterior surface of the slowly rotating drum screen cylinder.
*Particle Separation: Driven by water pressure, liquid permeates precision filter media including wedge wire, perforated plates or mesh into the drum interior, while suspended solids are intercepted and attached to the outer screen surface.
*Residue Removal System: Continuous drum rotation elevates trapped contaminants above the liquid level. High-pressure spray jets positioned at the upper section flush these accumulated solids thoroughly using filtered effluent or clean water sources.
*Two-phase Discharge: Dislodged solid waste drops into a centralized collection hopper for subsequent disposal, whereas the clarified filtrate is discharged through the drum’s axial outlet for further utilization or treatment.
Key Design & Performance Features
*Handles High Solids Loads Effectively
The external feed design allows for better distribution of incoming flow and is less prone to rapid blinding under high solids conditions compared to some internally fed designs, ensuring stable operation.
*Large Filtration Surface Area
The entire external circumference of the drum is utilized for filtration, providing a generous surface area to maintain high flow rates with low head loss.
*Proven, Simple, and Robust Design
With fewer internal components exposed to the raw influent, the design is often simpler and highly robust, leading to reliable operation and reduced maintenance needs.
*Excellent Pre-Treatment or Final Screening
Effectively removes fine particles (down to specified micron ratings), protecting downstream equipment such as membranes, UV systems, or heat exchangers, or producing high-quality effluent for discharge/reuse.
*Adaptable and Customizable
Available in a wide range of screen apertures (microns or millimeters), diameters, and widths to suit specific flow rates and water quality requirements. Constructed primarily in stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
Applications
*Municipal Raw Water Pretreatment: Effectively intercepts floating debris, algae colloids, and fine suspended solids in rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, providing a solid first line of defense for urban water supply networks and large factory water intakes.
*Multi-Industry Production Water Recycling and Purification: Widely applicable to heavy and light industrial scenarios such as power generation, papermaking, and food and beverage, specifically designed for cooling water recycling and upstream purification of process water, precisely protecting downstream precision equipment from wear and clogging due to impurities.
*Deep Wastewater Treatment to Meet Standards: As the final protection unit for municipal wastewater treatment plants and industrial park wastewater treatment stations, it deeply filters out residual fine particulate matter, stably meeting stringent environmental emission limits and reducing compliance risks.
*Aquaculture Recirculating Aquaculture System Operation and Maintenance: Continuously filters out uneaten feed and feces from aquaculture water, optimizing the transparency and dissolved oxygen environment of circulating water, reducing disease breeding, and improving fish and shrimp survival rates.
